The Wild Horses

At the heart and soul of the ranch is its namesake… the wild horse. Once almost threatened to extinction, the wild Mustang is now an enduring symbol of freedom in the American West. In the 1950s, Velma B. Johnston of Nevada, later known as “Wild Horse Annie,” formed an animal rights group that pushed Congress to pass the “Wild Horse Annie Act,” prohibiting the hunting of wild horses and burros on public lands. Today, over 200 wild Mustangs live in harmony and safety among the beauty of Wild Horse Ranch. Dedication to their freedom and care is an ongoing priority.
